The Centurian Project
Well, for the past few months I 've been gathering the parts and pieces needed to build my ideal computer for video editing. The Lanfire is adequate for the task but I wanted the latest and greatest hardware which theoretically will do the necessary rendering faster. She has a 939 AMD socket motherboard with all the bells and whistles, an AMD64 3700+ cpu throbbing out the cycles, a 10,ooo rpm Raptor hard drive, 2 GBs of super fast RAM, and two DVD optical drives. The DVD burner has Lightscribe to etch labels on my projects and there's an additonal 320GB hard drive for data storage. It took a day to assemble everything and I'm now installing all the software. This was truly a labor of love and much more rewarding than building the Lanfire. Having some experience made the difference. So far she is running stable, knock on silicon.
